Isaiah 12:2-6
March 27, 2005 - Easter Sunday
Pastor David Koehler

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

The payment has been made. It was made in full. There was a steep price to be paid for our rebellion against God. The Almighty demanded a perfect life. We had nothing to offer. Our sins blocked the road to heaven. But on Good Friday, with the weight of the universe on his shoulders, Christ relinquished his perfect life to save the world. And then the lifeless body of the Son of God was place in the tomb. The payment had been made to satisfy the justice of God. Our guilt was paid for.

Surely God is our salvation. Christ rose from the dead. The good news is sweetest music that ears could possibly hear. Because Christ lives, we too shall live. With the payment for sin complete, Christ did what he promised. He came back to give us the sure confidence we have. We can drink deeply from this gospel well. The waters soothe our minds. They give strength to our hearts. Surely God is our salvation for all eternity. Jesus lived the perfect life, died his innocent death, and yes, he rose from the dead. It is a fact.

Give thanks to the Lord. He had secured for you the most glorious blessing, his salvation. Give thanks like Jesus wants you to. He doesn't need grumbling, selfishness. But he wants hearts that are thankful. He has saved us. Give thanks to him with your attitude, your actions, and your words.

And also make known among the nations what Christ has done. Follow the example of Jesus' followers in the early church. They freely and willingly proclaimed the salvation of Christ so that other sheep might be brought into the fold. Go and do likewise. You know the facts. You can proclaim this news of Christ's resurrection. Speak freely. Jesus lived for you. Jesus died for you. Jesus rose for you. Tell everyone. Make known among the nations what Christ has done.

And continue to proclaim that his name is exalted. There is no other Savior. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Sing of glories. He is not dead, but he lives and rules to take us to heaven. This Easter morning and every morning exalt the King of Kings. Worship him and him alone.

Christ came alive to prove it. I challenge you to go around the world and find a different Savior that is alive. All imposters have come and gone. Their bodies are decaying in their graves. But Christ's tomb is empty. Let us trust in Jesus and not be afraid. Shout for joy, "Surely, it is God who saves me!"
